My first painting for 2012 was inspired by a kayak trip from Tata Beach with my friend Mark, from Wisconsin. We set off early on a still morning and paddled around the Tata Islands and Abel Tasman Point to Wainui Bay. The Tata Islands were perfectly reflected in a dark, oily sea and the limestone rocks glowed in the morning light.
